What version of the system are you running on your MacBook Pro? You have to be running at least OS X Lion 10.7.2 to have iCloud in Settings.
I don't know of any way to get an iCloud icon on the menu bar.
iCloud works in the background, there's no reason to have an icon for it on your mac. If you're thinking of the iDisk icon from MobileMe, then iCloud doesn't have such a feature, so there's no need for an icon (and you can't put one there).

Wrong, iCloud places an icon in System Preferences.

Upgrade to Lion (10.7.5) or Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and look in System Preferences.
Thanks makwmsn! Also, I am having trouble setting up my email account with iCloud because I don't have that access.
