Voice over is disabled by triple tapping the home button, or going into Settings>General>Accessibility and turning Voiceover off.

Hey I had this problem.

This may be a weird way to go round it but I bought a new iphone flip case (Griffin elan passport wallet case for iphone4/4s) that opens from the side. I then cut open the material at the bottom to remove the small metal button which allows you to press the home button easily and now I have no problems with voice control going off anywhere, whether it's in a bag or my pocket. The down side is that you now have to press a bit harder for the home button and when you type, the edges of the case are close to the edges of the screen but I got use to it fine in the end. If my iphone is safe, scratch free, and doesnt have a chance of screwing with voice control EVER, then I'm happy.

Hope this is helpful to someone!

I cannot believe Apple didn't include a fix in ios 6.1 for Voice Control.

Voice Control just comes on, no warning.......i am sat here having lunch, my Iphone is on my desk, I haven't touched the phone and Voice Control just comes on. I was listening to music the other day and with just 1song, voice control came on 7 times then will not come on again for another 5 songs........really annoying

I have tried all the solutions people have mentioned in previous blogs but all have failed.......I love apple products but they have really screwed the pooch on this one, it could be a faulty phone but its still Apple, I'm really considering going to Samsung

Apple isn't here. We are just users like you and making a demand like this doesn't get anywhere. I have read a couple of instances of this occurring, however it isn't something that has infected all phones. What user troubleshooting have you done? You say you have tried all the solutions, does that refer to restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new? If so, then I suggest you make a Genius appointment to have the phone checked. My devices do not exhibit this behavior, and we have four (4) of them.

This keeps me from pocket voice dialing...

You can, however, restrict the voice dialing aspect of Voice Control when your iPhone is locked, though this only prevents voice dialing when the phone is locked and a passcode is enabled. This isn't much of a tweak, but it does enhance your phone's security. To disable voice dialing:

  1. Tap on the Settings app
  2. Tap on General
  3. Tap on Passcode Lock
  4. Turn Passcode lock on
  5. Slide the Voice Dial slider to Off.
