iPhoto Update says Invalid Checksum

Updating to iPhoto 9.3.1 via Software Update gives an error message, as does downloading the update directly from the iPhoto support page ("invalid checksum"). Anyone else see this?

now it is over, look what i just found; Note the mention of an ethernet glitch:

An invalid checksum is caused due to corruption in the downloaded file. It may be due to a spotty internet connection.

If the download is completed in the Adobe Download Assistant you can temporarily turn off the feature to verify the checksum. The following steps will allow you to temporarily disable this feature:

  1. Open the Disk Utility located in Applications/Utilities
  2. Go under the Disk Utility menu and select preferences
  3. Deselect the option to verify checksums
  4. Try mounting your DMG file

I would recommend turning this feature back on though after the installation is complete. Also if you notice this happening on additional files it can indicate a problem with your Internet connection.

If the install is successful, remember to enable verify checksums.

@ crampy...not to be negative but...

Re: Note the mention of an Ethernet glitch? No, I don't see it.

And how is Adobe Download Assistant involved in downloading iPhoto?

Alas, also, this page made no difference: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1554

nor did I see anything on that page that asked "requirements [of my] machine

I've had this problem before. My Internet connection very good, 50Mbs, no problem with anything else.

All I found that works is trying it till it works. And I've only started having this problem with Apple downloads.

hello. In the thing I copy and pasted there, it said: "An invalid checksum is caused due to corruption in the downloaded file. It may be due to a spotty internet connection."

"glitch" was my word.

Um, the folks who know so much about computers that they can giv GOD himself advice, get upset if you have a problem and do not post your own thread, as you particular problem can be entirely different for one reason, and there are others..One term I heard used in less than pleasant mood was "threadjacking"- so go ahead an start your own question asking for help...

As to why adobe is mentioned, i invite you to google or what ever search engine you use "invalid checksum" and read.

I hope that helps. Be well.

@campy. It is NOT threadjacking when you pariticpate in a thread that has the exact same issue you are interested in resolving.

GOD will not be upset with me but since you bring he/she/or it into the discussion as if on your side, may I suggest you google 'glitch,' and see if it brings up anything about Adobe Download Assistant in relation to this question.

I hope this helps. Get well.

I did not mean what you interpreted. I had been quite yelled at here by some really seriously rude sorts, but who do know more than I ever will about computers. (points like up in the 80,000's and and all)

So by trying to avoid that garbage, you give me this. Sort of like i can't win.

OK I will try to help...the basics- what computer running what OS are you? How old is it? Are you the original owner? That page you said did not help is a site to download a new iPhoto- but I forget what age...which iPhoto...

Anyway- describe in exact detail what you have been doing, and what you clicked, to get the notice that it will not do it- and what exactly the alert says.

one last explanation why it is advantageous to start your own thread, 60wpm, is that this one has been solved. The masters who love to help, and who know things way beyond my skillset, SKIP Over solved questions.

So, be offended at me all you want. I sort of wish i had not even responded to you now.
