Did you use it outdoors / in a very hot environment and/or with a very tight case that doesn't radiate heat? While the iPad indeed has termal protection, I've never seen that message printed on any of my iPads. And I'm a power user having several iPads and using them to watch videos even in the sauna.
If your environment isn't very hot or the case you use isn't air-tight, then, it may be a faulty iPad.

I usually use it at home, we have a/c. No case
And I guess I'm going to take it to the nearest apple store thanks

Jul 14, 2012 9:37 AM in response to Ipad_dyingby Menneisyys,Yup, if there's no case AND it isn't exposed to direct sunlight, then, it's indeed a HW problem. I use my iPad 3 in much worse / hotter environments in a full leather case and I've never seen such a problem - your iPad MUST be faulty.
