Apple & FedEX - HORRIBLE PARTNERSHIP?

why is it that more than 50% of the time i see people saying that their fedex tracking shows "Package received after FedEx cutoff"?

can't these two companies work togther to get packages out on time?

I think the relationship between Apple and FedEx appears to working quite nicely. To me, it is pretty amazing that a computer that is, for example, shipped yesterday (U. S.) will arrive tomorrow (U. S.) As the poster above noted, the issue is not when the package was picked up by FedEx. The key questions are:

(1) Did the package ship from the factory on or before the date listed by Apple?

(2) Did the package arrive at its final destination on or before the date listed by Apple?

(Of course, one should keep in mind that the dates provided by Apple are just estimates.) Indeed, I am not sure that the first question is really key. If the product arrives on or before the date "promised," I would think it is irrelevant that FedEx picked up the package after its "package cutoff." (Given that the factory likely operates all or most of the day, it is not surprising that a significant number of packages will be picked up by FedEx after the its cutoff.)

There is more to the story that you are missing. The service Apple has with FedEx gives FedEx 4 business days to deliver. When you see "Package received after FedEx Cutoff" just means that FedEx picked up the crate from the factory but that they had a full plane of higher priority packages. The service Apple uses, "International Priority Direct Distribution" is not regular "next day" service. It would cost over $120 to have it guaranteed overnighted from Shanghai.

HERE IS AN UPDATE....

after having the 2 DAY DELIVERY OPTION...

Fedex shows it shipping on March 19th...
Delivery for March 24th...

when i call them they say that they do have it scheduled for 2 days but thats not guarenteed, they said they always add 2 days for customs and they don't guarentee that it will leave china the day they get it.... it could take one or two days before it leaves after Apple provides it to them

FedEx rocks, they blow away UPS and DHL. UPS is a union shop, when you're not @ home they must make 3 delivery attempts before you can pick your package up period, regardless of alternative arrangements that they make a nightmare to do in the first place. FedEx on the other hand, the first delivery attempt, no problem, show up @ their station and pick your package up before they close.

True story, about a month ago, I ordered parts on-line. UPS damaged the package in transit and drove the package around town for 2 days before sending it back. DHL claims to have delivered another package that same week to a neighbor that doesn't exist in my building. They lost the package. I contacted vendors and they waived S&H and used my FedEx account. Within 3 days of shipping according to the FedEx on-line tracking, I received both items on the same day, one from Texas, the other Minnesota to Miami, FL. Will I ever use UPS (Brown) or DHL ever again, no, I wouldn't have used them in the first place, except the vendor I ordered from was using them. I'll use US Postal before I go with either of those 2 period. NewEgg.com uses FedEx 3-Day guaranteed Super Saver, there's a reason for it and I've never heard a complaint about newegg's deliveries concerning timing and condition of comntents.

Absolutely false. I ALWAYS pick up my UPS packages after 1 delivery attempt, usually same day as the attempt at about 8pm before they close. Either, things like that are company policy, not dictated by the unions. By the way, Fedex is a union shop as well.

Actually, Newegg uses UPS as well. Never had a problem.
