Why can't I install software as an administrator when I'm signed in as administrator?

I just bought some software (Spector Pro), dowloaded it and am trying to install it on my MacBook Air. I get the message that I need to be an administrator to install it. But I checked in System Preferences and I am signed in as Admin. I have already run Disk Utility to repair permissions, but the same thing keeps happening. Anyone know what the problem is?

I'm suffereing from this issue. I have tried to install Canon softweare from their solutions disk; said I needed to be logged in as an administrator, which I was. Downloaded the software from Canon's site; it let me install the ImageBrowser, but will not let me install Camerawindow or Photostich, again, saying need to be logged in as an Admin.

I've created an account with admin privileges, I've logged out, restarted, tried all the admin accounts on the mac and taken of and reinstated admin privs, all with the same result; no joy. I've been able to install other software without any fuss, so now getting a bit frustated.

Oh, and I have run disk utlity and Onyx to try to repair. Sorry if advice has been posted elsewhere, but I coulnd;t find it....

There are only two users other than Guest. I am the first, that one is highlighted and "Admin" is under it. The option to allow user to administer the computer is checked.

The other is Spector Viewing, which is related to the software I'm trying to install. It says "Sharing Only" under it. I don't know how that got there. It is not highlighted. Just in case, I signed in as this user but the same thing happened.

So, you think this new software created the second user account? Is it possible it's trying to install itself in this other account that does not have admin privileges? Could it be there is an option in the installer that you missed when trying the installation? If this second user account was already present, then perhaps you should first delete the account then try installing the software.
