Mac Mini 120 hz refresh rate?

I've had my mac mini hooked up to my samsung 3d tv since i bought it. it's only been outputting to the screen at 60 hz.

I want to be able to use 120 hz, just cause my tv has it and i do have 3d video files that do play, but want to see if they would look better at 120 hz.

I'm outputting to the tv via HDMI for video and sound.

I look at the sys prefs and display. I see the drop down for refresh rate and its set to 60 hz. there's options that go up to 75 hz but they're whited out and unavailable for use.

my tv is 120 hz, why can't i get my mac mini to display at the rate?

So this means my cables aren't high speed data cables and just standard speed?

And that I'd need a high speed cable to carry the 120hz to my set. So the Mac mono senses the type of cable being used and won't allow me to pick a refresh rate greater than 60 hz. Correct?

No re-read the 4th paragraph in the first article,

because like most all other devices the iMac does not output at 120Hz.

Would my 75hz monitor work? Please say yes because I bought that monitor specifically for the use of 75 fps editing etc.

What specific model Mac?

What resolution monitor?

How connected?

Try it and find out

On my 2013 Mac Pro only 60 Hz is available via the Mac's Display Preferences. With the Display Menu app there are some 75 Hz resolutions available but only at less than 1080p resolutions. This I for a 4K monitor. For my 1080p monitor everything is 60 Hz except for 1280x960
