Why does my Macbook self - logout when I leave the house?

I bought iCam mobile for my iPhone from Apps on my iPhone and I bought iCam for my Macbook from Mac Apps. I set them both up and turn them both on before I leave home making sure with Preferences>Energy Saver that the Computer and the Display on the Macbook don't go to sleep while I am gone allowing me to monitor my residence. Assuning that there is no movement at home because I get no notifications on the iPhone I imagine all is safe. When I get home I find that my Macbook is in Login mode. I am not a computer wizard and admit that my Macbook may not be set up right but I am sure I have taken all the possible precautions before hand. What am I doing wrong?

Hi dave,

Go into System Preferences>Security>General, and make sure that the "Log out after nn minutes of activity" box is not checked....

Gail, I am running OS X lion and in iy when I go System Peferences>Seurity and Privacy>General there is no, "Log out after nn minutes of activity" box.

Well that's annoying!!! . I'm not running Lion, so sorry about the bad info...

Can someone with Lion knowledge help dave out here?

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

what you need to do is go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy>General. Then click the lock and authenticate yourself. click on Advanced and unbox the "Log out after xx minutes" box.

You are responding to a post that is over a year old, and you are repeating the same information that was originally given....

The OP is running Lion - there is no option to Log out after XX Minutes....
