For the last 2 days I have not been able to read mail addressed to my Verizon Yahoo address with the Mail App. I continually get a pop up window requesting me to enter my password. I can go to my Yahoo home page and read the mail with the same password Mail doesn't recognize??
It sounds like Yahoo has turned off POP or IMAP access to your e-mail. They might do this to force you to use the Web page interface, seeing all the lovely ads.
Or they might have decided to charge extra for POP or IMAP access. I have seen both happen.
You have to go back in to the web interface and open up the online help, and look for "Mail program settings" or "POP" or "IMAP" settings and see if they have any.
If you can't find any then they have disabled it. If you find settings, check them against what your using in Mail.
If your given a choice between using POP or IMAP, choose IMAP.
Thanks, I actually had to change the password. Seems strange to me that Yahoo recognised the password when I signed on to MyYahoo and I could get mail thru their server but they would not recognize it when I tried retrieving it through Apple Mail. Anyway went to Yahoo and changed the password again, then to Mail preferences and changed it there and Mail is working fine.
