I want to upgrade the processor for my mid 2007 20" imac, which has a T7700 processor, and I'm not sure what all the options are. I know that the T7300 has been sucessfully replaced with an Extreme X7900 @ 2.8GHz by a few people, is that the only possible upgrade? Thanks

Such a completely unhelpful answer. This makes the website less useful. Just because Apple doesn't do it or support it, doesn't mean it isn't possible or useful for extending the life of your mac.

Also using the High Sierra Patcher will then allow these macs to run Apple's latest OS. The WIFI/Bluetooth card is also upgradeable.

We can't post any non-Apple, non-authorised, third party procedures for modifying Macs, that are considered by Apple to be un-modifiable by the user, in these “official” Apple supported and moderated user to user technical support communities.
Apple considers ALL models of iMacs non-upgradeable by the user.
Most average and novice Macs users should NOT even attempt any type of iMac internal modifications.
Who is we, and why can't "we"? As long as it's made clear that this is not something Apple supports or recommends I don't see an issue.
Please do keep in mind that this product is NOT supported by Apple at all. Sharing information that helps make your mac work better is what these forums are for.
I object to Apple putting on the Jack boots and trying to stop us from sharing Mac upgrading info here.
It costs them nothing.
FYI I have been upgrading macs since the original, "un-upgradeable" Macintosh.
CPU replacement is not an Apple supported user operation...some have posted on here about doing so but it is not recommended.
