how do i edit 1080/50p on macbook pro

Hi, have bought a Panasonic HC-X900 and I want to edit footage at 1050/80p in iMovie, but apparently the only option is to use iFrame at 720p. I know there are third party software converters but I want to avoid them if possible. Does anyone know if Apple are addressing this in the next version of iMovie? Or can anyone recommend a different camera that is more compatible with iMovie?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Hi, GerrieAlex.

It is a pity that iMovie can't surpport the 1080 50p files, even iMovie '11.

You can use Final Cut Pro X. ( It is said FCP X can surport to import 1080 50p/60p AVCHD sometimes. )

If you have no FCP, you have to use a 1080 50p MTS to iMovie Converter to help you convert X900 clips to the best format AIC .mov in 1080 25p/50i.

The link http://www.editavchdmac.com/make-1080-60p-mts-editable-imovie-mac/ will give you a big hint.

Have a good time!
