Trying to import a 106GB iPhoto library into Aperture. I get "Error Importing Library. 1500.80 GB is needed, but only 469.29 GB available." Anyone know what's up? Both apps on latest version.
Have you upgraded your iPhoto Library already to iPhoto 9.3.1? If not, open it first in in the current iPhoto version.
This problem has been reported by several posters. For me the following work-around did the trick:

I'm recovering from a hard drive crash. Used the opportunity to set the system up again and am cleaning and consolidation. TimeMachine (bless her) is now busy making a new backup, so I'll try this tomorrow and report back if it worked.
I wasn't able to export the iPhoto library until I followed a tip to place all the projects into a folder. That worked and then new Aperture library seems to be an exact replica of the old iPhoto library.
It hasn't solved anything though, as I now get this: "1896.37 GB is needed, but only 464.40 GB is available." It's gotten worse as it said 1500GB yesterday.
Both libraries are on the latest release and I have ca 25.000 images in the old library. It is just short of 106GB on disk.
I'm joining this conversation cause I have the exact same problem (56GB to 380GB).
I was about to start the export mentioned by leonieDF, but I don't want to do if it hasn't helped you.
...one question though: did you choose to copy previews and originals into the new library?
It didn't give me the option. I did have to rebuild the previews though, once I opened the new library.
when I try to export the iphoto library from within aperture it gives me the box seen in the pic below...
Sorry, you're right. I thought I ticked all the boxes. As I needed to rebuild the previews, I must have left the middle one out. The others I definitely ticked, as the size of the libraries is almost identical and Aperture did let me know when it was done.
anyway...it shouldn't matter to our current problem.

Have you made "aperture feedback" to apple about the bug? We should probably hope for a bug-update from apple!?
Yes, I did send them a message with the error code and version numbers. Hope they'll bring out a fix soon.
I'm having this problem too. 157GB library says it needs over 5286GB to copy. That seems a bit excessive to me.
The latest aperture update (3.3.2) seems to solve the problem for me, with only a slight increase from 56GB to 73GB (down from 380GB).
Give it a try...
