Slow start up after adding memory

I added 2x2g memory to IMac (late 2009) and installed properly. The problem is the start up process when I turn on the computer.

I takes almost 3-4 minutes to get to my homepage where before it usually was seconds after turning on the computer. I get a gray screen

with Apple logo and a scroll bar showing progress of starting up. Once I get to my homepage all is working properly,

Any ideas as to the slow snail pace after turning on the computer?

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Tried reseatiing RAM as suggested and nothing changed. Still slow startup and now I find that my

admin password won't work as well. Related?

Sounds like maybe bad RAM, does it work with the original RAM?

Not sure what is meant by "original RAM". I have Apple Care Protection Plan. Maybe I should take it in

for service people to look at it.
