iPad imap connection error

I had this problem and after trying many things I reset my gmail password and deleted and added my gmail account in my iPad mail app settings, it worked. Has anyone else had success with this?

More on this, there was a difference when I re-added my account. I was connected via my home router and Wi-Fi when it all worked okay. As soon as I drop the Wi-Fi and connect via 3G I get the old error back. I have confirmed over the past few days that this scenario still is true. Connection via Wi-Fi works for me at home, 3G gives me the imap error.
