OK, I have a suggestion:
The screen shot you included says, in part: "If iTunes doesn't open, click the iTunes application icon in your dock ..."
I suggest trying that! I'll bet it solves your issue.

So what happened? Did iTunes open successfully? Did it ask you any questions? Are you logged in to iTunes with your Apple ID? If not, that might help.
Is the app store open when you open iTunes? If so, you might try quitting it (force quit, if necessary), then open iTunes, then the app store.

thanks for your suggestion. iTunes did open, and I could also log in iTunes. I've also tried lauch iTunes first and then app store. But still, nothing changed.
Later on, I went to the apple store and finaly found out the problem. When I used another user acount to lauch app store, it worked perfectly well. So the problem is that my user account of Lion somehow is messed up. So the way to fix it is that install Lion again on top of the old one.
