connect your iphone to itunes! that will fix your problem!!!
Syncing your iPhone will transfer all the new data to iTunes.
Thanks for the reply but that didn't work. Something is wrong in other areas as well. We turned on home sharing and my daughter tried to sync up through her laptop while the itunes library is on another pc in the house and maybe that had something to do with the library not working. Right now, she is trying to add back her music as none of her playlists are correct and she's lost 800 songs.
what is she trying to add her music back from?
I've tried homesharing as well, and it's never worked for me. Is the music still on her iPod?
The music is in the 'main' library on the server in the house. I thought home sharing would allow my daughter to sync from her laptop to the 'main' library but that doesn't seem to work.
Now, the profile for her iphone on the server is messed up and the 'sync music' button was greyed out. I had to select it and pick select play lists, but those play lists are incomplete and she's 'lost' 800 songs. Those songs, however, are still available in the 'main' library so she is adding them back in.
I just told her we can't sync through the laptop but I can't explain why the songs disappeared.
Then, there is the other issue (the first one I posted about) where she created a play list on her iphone but that didn't transfer back to iTunes.
Ugh ... this should be easy ... isn't that what Apple is supposed to do for its customers?
you should try looking through the downloads file in your main library or go to purchased in itunes.
For the problem of Playlists created on the iPhone not transferring to iTunes, make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes (10.6.3.25), which fixes a problem with Playlist transfers.
cannot export any playlist from iPhone back to iTunes--if I sync it says it will delete everything!!
jtuttle2:
Are you trying to Sync your iPhone with a different Library? If so, then iTunes will delete everything on the phone and put on it only what is in the new Library.
Is all of the content that is on the phone also in the library already? If so my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats might prove useful. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I opened this thread in the hope that someone could actually tell me a way to import multiple songs at once. I am still waiting for the answer!
Instead we got the “you must use software in a certain way” brigade!
I still use playlists for each album, it makes writing them to cd and playing them easier for the way I choose to use itunes. One of the most annoying things about the multiple updates of itunes is the interface changes that try to force you to use the software in certain ways as if there is a recommended way. Apple have moved from being an enabling company to adopting the philosophy of Microsoft and restricting users actions (partly to try to force the itunes store down our throats).
The two most annoying changes to the interface have been hiding the repeat action in a menu and not allowing multiple selection of songs to import. Whatever your recipe for using itunes, interface changes are annoying as they force cognitive load to learn new procedures.

Hhhmmm! Not sure why you think anyone is ordering you to use iTunes in a certain way. What has been proposed is something that should address the problem at hand.

But iTunes already has a "playlist" for each album - the Albums menu. Here's how I set up my iTunes Library, it's only one of the ways to display by albums:
I have seen and used other music programmes which force users into creating a playlist in order to play anything on their own player, even just one song. To anyone who has ever used a CD player or record player, that seems crazy.
How about we try and respond to your problem, even though this thread is not relevant to it.

I'm going to assume (in the absence of the information from you) that the music you're trying to import is already in digital form on your computer and that's where you're having issues.
If your iTunes doesn't display the menu bar at the top of the window, use CTRL B to turn it on and then click on File/Add Folder to Library...:
And that's all there is to it.
Yes, Apple has hidden some menu options, who knows why? But that doesn't mean that people here, trying to help others, are taking the Apple line or are happy with those changes.
