I never received a third DVD with Applications to choose/install. From the Install DVDs 1 & 2 I did receive, a lot of Apps are missing, only the the following items are available and the one I want isn't there:-
iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
Call AppleCare. Mind you, what Mac model do you have? The model/machine identifier would help us know what you can run on your system. Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More info. The format of the identifier is like Powermac 5,1 or iMac 3,1.
My Mac model is: (Hardware Overview) Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac8,1
What Apps are missing?
World Book is missing. Although it's in my Apps list it can't be opened, as here:-
When I use the World Book click here option and go to 'restore' my Install Disk simply doesn't include it - and a lot of other apps are not there either.
You copied over Worldbook from another computer. No 2008 model included Worldbook. Apple stopped including Worldbook in 2006. It was included in January 2006, but by December 2006 it was dropped. This is found through doing research of http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html on http://www.archive.org/ 10.5.5 dates from 2008.

Thanks for your information, I know now not to bother with it. Google Maps probably does the same sort of thing but better! 🙂
Google Maps is good, but I don't know if I'd say it is better. MacKiev has a 2012 version of it if you are interested. Encyclopedias are excellent for gaining knowledge. And I found Worldbook especially kid friendly. True Wikipedia probably is closer to Worldbook in content, but it isn't the same. It always helps gaining several perspectives when doing research on primary school studies.
I've looked at the MacKiev but, as you say, no 2008 model includes World Book.
