i Mac, Mac OS X (10.5.2)
What are you copying it to? In other words, what is the other volume formatted as? If its a FAT volume, then it might be too large a file (more than 2GB if I can remember correctly).
Also, if you're running OS X 10.5.2, you're really out of date. You need to run Software Update and install all the latest updates available.
