my iphone battery is at 35% after only 2.5 hours of usage and 7 hours of standby. Is that normal?
I feel like my battery is dying abnormally fast but I dont know how other peoples batteries compare.

It's probably in the normal range then, about 4 hours on a charge. The transmitter in any phone increases its output power as signal strength goes down; from 50 mw at 5 bars to 600 mw at the lowest signal strength that can maintain a connection. Naturally, the specs for the phone are based on 50 mw. That's why it says "up to 6 hours" on 3G.
Maybe. It depends entirely on what you were doing for that 2.5 hours.
