Powermac G5 system UI server quits can't access anything except spotlight and date and time across top menu bar

Hello, I have a early 2004 powermac G5 2.0 GHZ 6.5 Gigs of RAM running leopard 10.5.8 the computer wasn't used for a few months because I went away but it started up fine only issue was the date and time were 12/31/1969 I changed it and had no issues for a few days I updated the OS from Leopard 10.5.6 to 10.5.8.I ran the disk utility several time before updating and all was ok so I updated it ,however now when I boot up the dock quits and the System UI server also quits ( I checked the report that came up when the UI server quit the exception was as follows EXE_BAD_ACCESS,exception code was KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000007228b94 if that helps ) so I have no access to the left side top menu bar where the finder is although I have access to the clock and spotlight and some other programs will open such as photoshop or system preferances but they won't close cause I can't use the menu bar to quit them and I can't use the keyboard to type anything ,the hard drive appears on the desktop but it won't open I can only right click and get the info .....I have reset the PRAM and NVRAM I have booted in safe mode still can't access the finder I have also booted in single user mode and run disk utility again came back ok I have opened it up taken the memory out and put it back in and reset the SMU that actually worked for a day but now its back to the issue I have also changed the battery which fixed the clock and date problem but I have no idea why this is happening I have been told the system UI server can cause this because of some preferences but i can't access any of them with no finder and I do not have the leopard start up disk any more what should I do everything seems fine HD wise and resetting the SMU worked for a day so it seems like it should be repairable but without Access to any files I dont know what else to do

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.
