I used to have a macbook, but it died and I bought a Macbook Pro. I have some important files on my old macbook and I was wondering if anyone knows how much The Apple Store charges to move files from one laptop to another.

Are you trying to install files from your 'dead' laptop to your new MBP? If the hard drive is working in your old MacBook, you can simply buy an enclosure for your old hard drive from OWC and move the files yourself. I don't think that the Apple Store would really help.

I am not sure that they offer that service, but I do know it will be a lot more than doing it yourself.
It's called Migration Assiant. I also not sure if Apple offers the service upfront but I'm pretty sure they do if you have/purchase Apple One to One.
The best part about Migration Assitant is that MAC OS X has it built in and you can do it on your own. Follow this link for further instructions.
