Employee Schedule

I would like to enter my employees schedule on either a calendar or an app and be able to send them their schedule and view it at anytime. Can iCal do this or is there an app better suited for the job?

There are some pretty cool scheduling software out there that has iphone and android apps which would be ideal but they are $12-$20 a month. I don't mind $20 one time for a good app but every month might be a bit much.

We currently do our schedules in Excel and either want to transfer/input the schedule once created to an app to share with the team or push to a google/iCal calendar so they can view.

Thanks for any help.

You cannot do this with iCal alone. Options:

You can set up an iCloud account (free) and sync iCal to that (Lion required). That done, you can share the calendar publicly (non-editable) to anyone with a CalDAV client such as iCal itself or Google Calendar (free account required), or privately (editable if required) - the recipient will have to have an iCloud account.

Or you can invest in BusyCal, which is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion. It can also sync over your LAN without involving iCloud (obviously your staff would only be able to access it at work). A single user licence (two machines allowed) is $49.99; for more pricing details please see

Note that businesses are required to buy multiple single licences, not a Family Pack.
