Aperture: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library
Remote volumes are slower, and transmission errors may corrupt your library. For a good performance put the Aperture library on the fastest drive you have - that is usually your system drive or a second internal volume, if you have it. If your Aperture library is too big for the internal volume, you can relocate the original (master) image files to an external volume, formatted MAC OS X extended, but for the Aperture library itself you need quick access.

Jul 17, 2012 7:07 AM in response to léonieby kiwi92651,Thank you for your answer. Funny thing is that everything was working ok on this system. The remote hard drive is a Seagate Go Flex drive. I think formatted for Apple. It has a spin speed of around 5200 rpm. How could I eliminate the wireless system or hardrive.
Currently it takes about 1.5 hrs to transfer across a 16 gig worth of pictures to this remote hard drive.
