My Mac, running OSX 10.6.8, forgets its Dock settings.

How can avoid this annoyance? I have to reset the preference several times a week.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

This is the Leopard, 10.5 forum, not 10.6. Anyway try trashing this file (don't empty the Trash yet in case you need to put it back.) Then restore your Dock settings.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist

This is the Library in your home folder.

Didn't work. After a restart, the Dock was once again in the wrong place, although it retained the size I wanted.

As for the wrong forum, the drop down menu didn't let me choose Snow Leopard.
