my iphoto wont open after installing the ilife 11?

I recently installed ilife 11' but after it said it installed successfully I don't really see where it installed at? I am now unable to open my iphoto. When I try to open it is says: " in order to open iphoto you need to update to the latest version." "please run software update to install it now." However every time I run my software update it keeps telling me there are no updates available? Can someone please tell me how I can open my photos???

Thank you for your time

Try what worked for me - manually downloading and installing iPhoto 9.1 update, then the same for 9.3.1 update. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4114430?answerId=18946093022#18946093022

Yes.

Most Simple Back Up

Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.

Slightly more complex:

Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
