Two days ago I dropped my Ipod classic on concret(120gb)...

...and when I turned it on, no music would play. It just stopped with the screen frozen, so I restarted it. I waited and waited for the apple sign to go away; but it didn't. Instead at the end it said "Plug in to restore", then it turns off. I really don't want to comply because I'm really scared to lose all of my precious music. HELP ME!

*Also when I turn it back on.. I can hear the inside stutter like if it's trying to start back up but it can't.

iPod classic, Windows XP

Try the hard Reset first

  1. After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
  2. Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
  3. Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
  4. Then release the buttons
  5. Select your preferred language.
  6. Then plug in to iTunes and Restore it.
