Q: Can't Restore my iPod Classic

Until a few days ago my iPod and iTunes worked perfectly together. The iPod then crashed and wanted to be restored. Then the "fun" began!

I have an iPod Classic 80GB. Use the latest iTunes. Have Windows 7 at home (64 bit). Have tried on Windows XP (32 bit) with iTunes 9.2 and latest at work computer.

I have run all the steps for Error 1439 as per this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1372 however no luck. I have tried diskaid and yamipod to restore it, but they can't find the iPod. I have tried it on different computers with no luck (they are even different operating systems). I have tried reformatting it through windows (but it is protected).

iTunes finds the iPod and wants to restore it but keeps running into error 1439.

I have uninstalled all Apple software (in the correct order) and installed an older version of iTunes (9.2) but again had the same error.

It seems to be an issue with the actual iPod not the computer (or iTunes). I have tried the system check on the iPod, however gets stuck at the HP (headphone) detect test ... although it does detect the headphones it won't continue pass this. Have run all the other tests via manual checks. It didn't find any errors.

Any help??

iPod classic, Windows 7
