Airport Express and music

I know this may be elementary to some people, but I added an Airport Express to my network after I got the Airport Extreme and have been using it mainly to stream music from my laptop or computer to my stereo so I have never used it on it's own.

I want to set up my stereo and stream music for a wedding reception from my laptop to the stereo. Is it possible to do that simply using Aiport Extreme on it's own? Do I just plug in the Airport Express into the stereo and then get my laptop to find it? Like I said, this is probably basic to some people, but not to me😕.

I would think that it would all depend on how the express is set up. If it is creating a wireless network of its own (as opposed to simply joining a network) then it should work much the same at the wedding as it does in your home.

Sounds like you've got it joining the network though, so you'd have to configure it to create its own network before using it at the wedding... Or set it up at the wedding to join the wireless network they may have, but that seems needlessly complicated.
