Q: can you use the cellular data internationally?

I wanted to get the ipad to use out of the country when I go away. Will it work when I use it on the limited plan with Verizon or AT&T?

Verizon offers internationalt data roaming at the rate of $25/100 meg if you have the post-paid plan (you get billed monthly). There is no international roaming if you have the pre-paid (set up from the device) plan. However, the new iPad is unlocked so you can get a SIM from any local provider who supports iPads. When I was last in Canada, I simply got a Bell Aliant SIM for my Verizon iPad.

    Can't answer for AT&T.

It depends on what package you're on, whether or not it'll work out of the country.

Your best bet is probably to buy a micro SIM card in the country you're going to and a plan there. International roaming can be horribly expensive.

If you tell folks what country you're going to someone may have more specific advice.

I will be in the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain...does that mean I have to buy 3 different SIM cards for the countries I am going to? :-/

Yes, if you want the least expensive option.
