Try adding 8.8.8.8 to your DNS servers and then restart your computer.
I also changed my Apple ID's eddress from gmail to @me.com => it worked just fine
I have the same problem with my i pad . Facetime and i message stopped working when i upgraded the software to ios6.0.
Any one can help
Tried this myself from last issue when I converted to Lion but adding this to DNS didn't work. Went to Apple Store over the weekend... their solution - reinstall operating system (as well as all apps).... in my case, not worth doing for the single benefit of Facetime. But this seems to be an issue for many people and it has come up before, but yet Apple seems to not resolve it with a patch release or something short of a complete reinstallation of the OS.
I can't seem to add 8.8.8.8 to the DNS tab - the "+" sign is grayed out.
