Millions of people have a "rota" in their work place, whereas probably about fifty know someone called Rita. Please, for the love of God, add "rota" to your dictionary. It's an utter pain.
And don't tell me to "add shortcut". It doesn't work. It just changes "rota" to "tots" and the capitalised version to Rita, still.

You're not talking to Apple. This is a user to user forum.
Use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page and tell Apple about it if you feel so strongly.
You can expand the spelling dictionary yourself. When your iPhone suggests another word for a word that you know is spelled correctly, just tap the X next to the suggestion. Do that a few times, and it will remember your word, and even suggest it later.
Says so right in the manual, and has worked countless times for me.
Also, make sure you have the correct keyboard selected in international settings. Rota is not a terribily common word in U.S. English but us more common in British English. Selecting the wrong keyboard will access the wrong spelling dictionary.

Rota is an English word. As in England. Perhaps the American language lost the word in its 'development'.
And the dictionary after 2 years on my iphone of correcting Rita back to rota still has not learnt.
You can be certain that 'Apple' ( not the pre-existing music coorporation of the Beatles) will tout it as a feature not a fault.
Maybe you should buy a smartphone that's designed and developed in the UK instead of the USA. I'm sure it will have the correct English dictionary.
