Max memory . . .

I have an early 2009 Quad-Core Mac Pro, and it appears that 8gig is the max memory that can be installed, or am I missing something.

MacPro MacBook Pro , Mac OS X (10.6.8), Canon Vixia HF S21 (AVCHD)

This kit is compatible with dual processor (8-core) Mac Pro models ONLY.

While single processor (Quad core) Mac Pro models do have 4 memory slots available,

This kit is not compatible due to an OS system limitation.

OWC p/n OWC1333D3MPE8GB (8GB modules) and OWC1333D3MPE16G (16GB modules) require that all installed modules be of the same p/n OWC 8GB and/or 16GB modules. Other existing Apple or 3rd party 1GB, 2GB and 4GB modules are not supported for use with these kits and need to be removed when these modules are added.

A rather 'popular' upgrade is to use the 5,1 firmware which adds support for W3680 for one and better memory support.

So 48GB it is... if you need to unless it was more curiosity.
