I want to update my software to leopard 10.6 but it said I don't have Intel based. What does that mean? Why wouldn't I be able to update from leopard 10.5 to 10.6?
Mac OS X 10.6 only contains code for Intel Macs.

Power Mac is a PPC processor, not Intel.
10.5.8 is as far as PPC support goes.
Just to add to the two prior excellent responses, I'll mention that the last Power Mac (non-Intel Mac) was made just about six years ago.
That's why the modern operating systems (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion…) are not supported.
