How do you reset system preference settings?

I have a MacBook Pro that I would like to reset the system preferences to default.

I would like to delete the (com.apple.systempreferences.plist) file for the system settings.

By default, the file is hidden.

Do I need to boot my Mac in safe mode to do this?

Thanks

Just open you Library folder by holding down the option key (alt) and select Library from the Go menu in Finder.

Navigate to the Preferences folder and delete the plist files you wish.
