How to convert .ppt into .mov?

Hello guys,

I am working with Final Cut Pro 6, using Compressor 3 for converting my files.

But now I have Power Point presentation, which I need to convert into QuickTime, preferably into ProRes, but any QT will do.

Is there any easy way of doing it?

Thank you for any tips.

Open the ppt file in PowerPoint, then go to the menu File > Save as Movie . . .

This will export the file in, I believe, the Animation codec, you can use compressor to to recompress that to ProRes or some other edit friendly codec.

It has been my experience that since there is usually a large disparity between the way the graphics are layed out in ppt and what you need in a video (no respect for tv safe, etc.) it is some times easier to just take the ppt presentation as a series of jpegs, and reconstruct the presentation in FCP.

if I remember correctly, powerpoint will export the quicktime or jpegs in a resolution that matches (or comes close) to the current screen resolution of the computer. So for best possible quality, set your computers screen resolution to match the target resolution of your video.

But MTD is right. Exporting the images and rebuilding in FCP is usually a better solution. Rebuilding the graphics in photoshop to optimize for video is even better although requires much more work.
