My Magic Mouse stopped working out of the blue.

I've had my Mac Pro for a couple of months with no problems. 24 hours after I used my mouse it wouldn't work. I assumed batteries but that wasn't the problem. New batteries and the green power light is on, blinks and then shuts down. No red light on the mouse tracking apparatus (sp?) ever comes on. The Bluetooth symbol with the three dots in the middle is visible and no other wireless device is connected. I'm just about ready to push through a support claim on this mouse unless anyone has any good ideas. I've read an hours worth of threads to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
