more ram - will it work?

ok so im pretty sure i know the answer to this but:


if i put 8 gig of ram in my (2007/08 i think) 24" iMac - the last model with fw400 & fw800, will it recognize it?


Im pretty sure it can only have upto 4gb of ram (which it currently has)

iMacs from '07 and '08 can accommodate 6gB of RAM as shown below.


LATE '07

Maximum Memory 6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)

Memory Slots 2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM


EARLY '08

Maximum Memory 6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)

Memory Slots 2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
