Just migrated from a 2006 MacBook Pro to the new 2012 one (not retina). Since the migration, every time I log onto my work account, the dock starts using an inordinately high amount of cpu. If I force quit the dock, it seems to go back to normal, though it'll sometimes start acting up again a few hours later. I do not have Parallels installed. I do have VirtualBox installed, but not showing on my dock. I've tried resetting the dock to factory settings and that worked for one start-up.

Have you tried installing the recent update?  The reason I ask is that the description mentions addressing "increased CPU power consumption", making me wonder if this fixes the Dock problem many have encountered. See also some of the threads listed under "More Like This".

I had not even heard about that update, thank you. It seems to be working so far. Regarding the "more like this" almost all of them refer to the Parallels issue, which would not be applicable to me.
