High Power USB Port ... Where?
The article mentions "a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers)". Okay, which Mac computers? I looked and can't find this detail in any iMac specs.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1), iTunes 10.4.1

What article? You might want to ask your computer related (iMac) question in an iMac forum rather than here in the iPad forum.
OK I think you are asking about charging an iPad. It was not clear to me since you referenced an "article". But I see you posted in response to a knowledge base article.
Did you click on this link referenced in the knowledge base article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049?viewlocale=en_US? It provides a little more info.

I entered my question in the "Ask other users about this article" window at the bottom of the page. I'm trying to determine if I can use an iMac USB port to charge my iPad. Certainly, I can use my power adapter, but it would be convenient (if I want to use my iPad while charging it) to just plug it into my iMac. And getting an answer to the "high power USB port" question will help me address that. The article in question is here:

See how long that was? That's why I kept my initial inquiry succinct. Perhaps too succinct.
Thanks for the link to additional information. I am reviewing that. It does seem to supply some answers.
Only the most recent Apple computers have USB 3/higher power USB ports and they still are not equal to the wall charger that came with your iPad.
Why are you not able to use your iPad when charging it via the wall charger?
Your iMac will charge it but very slowly and not at all if you are using it.
