I just discovered a Leopard Security Update 2012-003 in reading an article in MacWorld, but when I checked my computer, I found that I did not get it through Software Updates' check for updates. Is there something wrong with my Software Updates? Or is just that this must be manually downloaded by the user? My iMac is an Intel Mac.

Could you have SWUPD set to automattically get updates?
Check Library>Reciepts at root of the drive, nit your user Library, & see if it's been installed.
Also, if this is a PPC iMac it only was for Intel iMacs, since PPCs weren't able to get that FlashBack infection for one thing.
If Intel, you coild always get it directly & re-apply it...

An easy way to see if it was automatically installed is open System Preferences->Software Updates->Installed Updates tab and see if it's listed there.
Thank you for your quick reply. I went to the place you pointed me to and did not find the update there. I do have Software Updates set to automatic, but even when I run it manually it does not suggest this update for me, though I do see from the SU log that I got the Flashback Removal tool back in May. I am a bit wary of downlooading the Leopard Update myself, because I wonder if the fact that I don't get it automatically, even though I have an Intel Mac is some kind of sign that I am going to have problems if I try to get it myself.

As I said above, I am wary of downloading the update myself, because I worry that that I will have problems doing so, since SU doesn't seem to think I need it.
I understand your concern, but it should be perfectly safe to download it directly from Apple & install it, even if it has already been installed.
