If I understand what you are after....
In a Finder window you can use the options in the View menu, Arrange by entry. This will allow you to sort contents of that window (or folder) by date.
Or, in a Finder window, you can click on "All my files" in the sidebar on the left and use the View menu, etc. to get a date sorted list of all files on your computer. (If "All my files" is not in your sidebar, you can enable it via Finder>Preferences>Sidebar.)

Thanks for answer Charlie. What I meant was to see stack of current document i am working on, so that i can go back to my earlier work. They showed this feature when they launched Lion. I wonder if you know what I mean.

Yes, I think/hope I understand now.
If the application supports this "versioning", you can click on the title of the window to get a little menu and "Browse all versions..."

If you're in a particular application, press FN F10 and it'll display previously opened docs in that application.
Thanks Charlie, I now found out how to do it. You guys are very helpful.
