Canon EOS 30D RAW format not recognized by Apperture

It's a brand new camera, of course it isn't supported yet.

Patience, I'm sure they'll support it eventually. They're just getting around to supporting the D200 after all, and it's been out for months now.

In fairness, I don't think ACR supports this camera yet either.

The only thing that supports the 30D is Canon's own software right now.

Not true. Another converter called "SilkyPix" now supports the 30D in addition to Canon software.

Thanks guys, I sure feel dumb. I should have realized that being new it wouldn't be supported yet. I guess I just don't like the software that Canon give you with the cameras. Oh well can still do what I need to do with my 10D. Thanks again and much aloha.

According to the Aperture web page the 30D is supported for RAW. Not exactly sure what is going on with it. Guess I need to talk to Canon.

that is new in the last few days then ... it may very well be supported when 1.1 arrives ... this could be the 1.1 delay ...

I thought that aperture and raw relied on the OS to decode ... this would imply that since the 30d came out since the last os update (???) that it would need 4.6

although having said that, maybe canon and apple were in league together prior to the camera coming out and had already builtin support for the last os update and just flip a switch to tell us ...

i was looking at the 30d to get as another camera, but put that off due to raw support ... then silky added it, now the aperture page has ... hmmm ...

Capture One v3.7.4 RC1 add support for the Canon EOS 30D and the Pentax *Ist DL, DL2 and DS2 cameras.

Where do you see 30D ... I see the D30 ... which is an old model ...

From the photography-on-the.net RAW and Post Processing forum, http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18 , it appears that the 20D and the 30D have the same conversion. You can try the same "hack" that one Aperture user did to support his (her?) Canon G2. The following thread should help you out:

Or you could wait until April 30th when 1.1 is released. 😉

D30 and D200 support is not a question of Aperture 1.1. Its a question of Mac OSX 10.4.6.
If you are in a hurry buy a developer member ship for $500 a year and D30 and D200 will run with Aperture 1.x.

i just attended a presentation by apple's director of professional apps last night in portland which includes aperature. he said the 30 D will be supported in the April 1.1 release ("they were just able to get it in"). it also looks like there are major enhancements to workflow and the raw decode algorithms - should be well worth the wait.
