Will the new OS upgrade work with 2010 Macbook Pros?

I want to know if the new Mountain Lion upgrade features will ALL work with a 2010 MacBook Pro? We use the Apple TV in the classroom and use it to mirror the iPads in the Music Department and currently still need to use a projector and cables to do the same with the laptop. It would be great if I'd be able to do the same with my MacBook Pro. I was recently in an Apple (3rd party) store and they made it seem that older models wouldn't 100% benefit from the newer features. Please let me know if it'll work, and if not, do every thing you (APPLE) can do to make it so. We've intergrated Apple into our music department in the past 2 years and am very excited to continue this.

So after looking at the links, was excited it might work. After the release of Mountain lion this morning it turns out many people had their hopes crushed. Starting to question if I want/need the upgrade. The AirPlay mirroring would have been a crucial aspect in my classroom this upcoming school year. Thanks Limnos for trying to help, it was useful, though now I'm slightly sad.
