Q: Does Apple TV's connectivity depend on your wireless connection strength?

Before going out and buying Apple TV , can anyone tell me while watching a movie does the movie stop / start depending on your wireless strength / connectivity?

Is there a lead that can be used instead from Ipad or Mac to HDMI on my TV?

Cheers

    Welcome to the Apple community.

There are many things that can impact on the performance of the Apple TV, the distance from the router is one of them and signal strength cannot be ignored, however there are other factors such as whether your network experiences interference or not.

Perhaps you could explain why you are asking and give your details in particular, so that we may answer your question more specifically.

Yes, interference on the network can cause playback issues. istumbler or netstumbler can help determine what your network is experiencing.

Connection speed is also something to consider. You can check speedtest.net to verify what you are getting.

    6mbps required for instant 720P

    8mbps for 1080P

You can connect an iPad or Mac directly to the TV but that won't bypass network issues.

    More information would help

I was curious before going off and buying one. I didnt want to spend the money and regret it later ... I already have the tv shows and movies downlaoded to my mac so i think i will go in search of a lead to transfer the images across

    Thanks again
