AJA IO vs DeckLink?

I think the AJA Kona cards look very cool.
They also add hardware acceleration to HD and HDV.

I'm in the process of buying something aswell, so I'm following this topic with interest!

I have the Decklink pro card and its always causing me bother. I have never used or seen the AJA so cannot compare the two unfortunately.

No problems with our IO on my G5, our other suite is a old G4 with Decklink SP.
I haven't really had any issues with it but favor the IO.

Better? Aja is better. But I'm tech support for an Aja reseller, so I'm biased.

Aja Tech Support is the best in the industry. Well, they're tied for number one with Huge Systems, IMO. (We're also a Huge Systems reseller.)

I'm using a Decklink Extreme with no cause for complaint

Decklink is driver happy. new driver every month. Works fine but that says enough.

Aja has better numbers in my book.. Better tech support. Better communication with apple engineers. Better drivers.

One more vote for the AJA IO. I bought this unit over the Decklink Extreme.

I never thought I would use the S-Video in, but sure enough, it saved the day on a job recently.

Also, having the connections on a rackable unit is preferable to a bundle that hangs off of the back of the computer.

The fact that the IO ties up the FW bus was solved with a FW800 PCI card.

To me it was worth the money for the flexibility and convenience. It depends on your application, gear set, and client needs. BMD cards have a good reputation, and I've used them on rental systems and have not had any complaints.

I have not dealt with BMD tech support so I can't compare, but I will say that my experiences with AJA tech support have been very good.
