Turn it off. Turn it on and hold down the shift key. I am not sure how long is necessary but I usually just hold it unti I am sure it is booting up. You should eventually get a messsage it is starting in Safe Mode. Depending upon hte level of issues you may not even get that far and then it turns into a whole different set of issues.

I hope you maintain regular backups.

What you're seeing says to me 3 things:

1. Maybe corrupt directory; computer has the files all jumbled up

or

2. Full hard drive (need 15+ GB free at all times) and can't find room for files when starting

or

3. Terminally ill hard drive. Having problems reading files and having to do a lot of re-tries.

Safe Mode should have helped, at least temporarily, with #1 and #2.

Well okay here's the thing. My grandma bought the apple and registered the apple as her husbands name. So on windows and stuff you have an account. Well their account is locked (needing a password) and my grandma cant think of her password and weve tried tons of them. But on At&t uverse we have this wifi my mom is hooked up to on her laptop. I need to hook it up on the apple but the mac cant find it. And i cant search for it on the internet on it because its not logged in. So i cant really get on anything right now.

😕
