After rebuilt iPhoto, "hidden" photos weren't transferred

I was having problems opening my iPhoto. It wouldn't completely open and tended to just load but not completely start. After trying sorts of things, I rebuilt my iPhoto. After doing so, it never recovered my photos that I previously had "hidden." Is there a way to restore those photos?
