Recovering iTalk recordings from new iPod?

This seems far-fetched, but I have no other options at this point.

I recently turned in my old iPod Touch 4G for a refurbished one, effectively leaving me with a clean slate. That would have been fine, had my laptop hard drive not given out on me that same night. That means that any iTunes syncs and the recordings themselves are gone.

I am desperate to recover my iTalk recordings from my old iPod. Please tell me there's a way.
