Finder - Save defaults sorting setting

When I select a folder and set sort preferences (organize by type and sort by name), there is no way to set these preferences as default for all folders of a given disk.

as a matter of fact, I would like to have Finder opening all the folder with the same preferences. But, each time I close and reopen the finder, the finder forgot my preferences and revert to this date of last opening stupid sort order.

please help, it is getting really anoying!

If you set a sort order for a folder it should remember the sort order preference next time you open the folder. Each folder needs to be sorted individually. If the Finder does not remember the sort order you preferred you will need to make visible and delete the ds.store file in the folder.

Thanks Sig.

But reading your answer, I fear that it will not be possible to do what I wanted: there is no way I will manually set preferences to the thousands of folders I have on my macs.

I think it is unbelievable that you cannot set default sort orders for your folders. It sounds to me a basic feature that any explorer shall have.

Do you know if there a way to request features enhamcement to Apple?
