iCal dock icon contains a "1" in the right corner

Question

iCal dock icon contains a "1" in the right corner

My iCal dock icon has a "1" in the upper right corner and I do'nt know why it is there or how to remove it. Any thoughts? It's probably a simply fix but I am brain dead on this.

Nicholas,

The number "1" means that you have an event invitation. Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification.

Oops! I found the answer. It's an event invitation. There is a "1" at the upper left of the screen within the iCal program. Click the "1" and an option box appears. All clear.
